Network Engineering

• Establish policies for internetworking of domestic and international research network
• Establish policies to improve and upgrade functions of the research network.
• Collect, analyze, and monitor traffic data of user institutions and the backbone network.
• Inspection of regional PoP system environment.
• Manage security equipment (firewall/IPS) related to access to internet services.

Operation and Management of User Institutions Network Connections to KOREN

• Manage services on network lines, such as opening/upgrading/closing of network connections to KOREN by user institutions.
• Operate Help Desk for providing technical support to user institutions.
• Allocate IPs and improve routing system.
• Respond to general inquiries regarding technological issues and deal with failure recovery.

Supporting User Institutions Research Activities

• Support research activities of user institutions including those regarding  5G, transport, and future Internet etc.
• Provide internetworking technical support for other research networks and international research networks.
• Support demonstrations and tests on networks, such as tele-video conference.
• Provide technical support related to common research resources and the network.
• Operate KOREN website.
